Knowledge about head injury in police custody staff and implications for training

Head injury is prevalent in prisoners and associated with offending behaviour. Awareness assessment of the occurrence effects recent head important should occur at an early stage criminal justice system. This study looks knowledge about detainees a police custody considers implications for training officers. Questionnaires perceived needs were completed by 67 officers Scotland. All reported need further most common areas to be assessment, management long term effects. Knowledge past seemed more focussed on awareness potentially catastrophic brain limited understanding impairment insight emotional behavioural was evident.
